Cable recycling

Cables are in constant and frequent use in every industrial field. In fact, they are one of the most commonly used products when it comes to industrial plants, being used to transmitting communication and power, connecting different areas in the factory and different machines one to another in the same areas. Therefore, in almost every industrial plant, within a short time, one will see a large number of cables that have been collected as industrial waste. Unfortunately, industrial cables are made up of many materials all of which decompose over a long period of time.

Most often, cables consist of a conductive material (for transmitting electricity, information, etc.) in the center of the cable, wrapped in insulating material, which is usually PVC plastic. In most cases, copper serves as the conductor, although one can also find aluminum cables.

Besides being materials that decompose at a slow rate, the materials in cables can be dangerous when they reach groundwater reservoirs and can cause diseases and environmental pollution harmful to humans and animals.

It is important to note that the mining of metals from the ground for the production of cables is very expensive, and that they are natural resources which are slowly running out and becoming rare. On the other hand, the materials that cables are made of can be reused. The recycling of these metals can facilitate the lowering of production costs of cables and new devices in the future.

It is in this light that All Recycling works to recycle all types of cables, as they are defined as “electronic waste” for the purpose of complying with the provisions of the Environmental Treatment for Electrical and Electronic Equipment and Batteries, 2012, which became law on March 1, 2014, as well as all the regulations that were enacted under its auspices (the “Recycling Law”).
